Camp McCumber is seeking volunteer Camp Hosts for the 2019 season. This is a great opportunity to spend time in a beautiful location and be involved in our 2019 Camp Season. Ideally, Camp Hosts will arrive in May and depart in October.
Camp McCumber is located on Lake McCumber in a beautiful rustic setting with all the modern services. We are 100% non-profit, run by a board of volunteers. The camp is located on 40 plus acres of wooded space in Shingletown, CA, about 30 miles East of Redding. Camp McCumber is home to about 13 regular seasonal youth camps from the area and beyond, and is available to rent for day use and overnight use for weddings, meetings, retreats, festivals, and family reunions. There are 15 camper cabins, 3 staff cabins, 5 full hook-up RV sites, a large commercial kitchen, dining room, recreation hall, and nurses cabin/health lodge. Activities are endless for our Campers – waterfront with floating dock and sandy beach with canoes and kayaks, frisbee golf course, basketball court, volleyball court, tetherball, ping pong, archery range, hiking trails, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard, a large grassy field and ball field, amphitheater/chapel, covered barbecue and flagpole area.
Camp Hosts are volunteers who are looking to spend part of the year (late spring, summer, early fall) in a beautiful camp setting and be involved in an amazing seasonal camp facility. Hosts must have a self-contained RV or trailer and a personal vehicle for transportation. Full hookups are provided. Meals during camps can be included. In exchange for living on site and amenities, Camp Hosts will perform a variety of duties to help around the facility depending on skill sets and abilities. Duties may include getting facility ready for season in late spring (painting, cleaning, yardwork, maintenance), help during summer camp season (janitorial/housekeeping, kitchen help, maintenance, assisting groups, running errands), and helping after summer season in preparation for winter (clean and close cabins, store materials, winterize). Hours will vary, but estimated at 20 hours per week.
Camp Hosts will be interviewed and final candidates must pass drug screen and background check. Due to youth campers, non-smokers only (this includes vaping), and we prefer no dogs but will consider if not big, not noisy, and well behaved.
