Job Description

The Payette National Forest in McCall, Idaho is looking to fill Volunteer Campground Host positions for 2-3 campgrounds for the 2019 season. Campground Host duties include but are not limited to: greeting visitors, providing information, offering assistance, explaining rules and regulations, promoting responsible camping, helping to keep up the grounds, cleaning and restocking restrooms, posting reservations, raking sites, cleaning fire pits. Duties of this volunteer position are often performed outdoors in all kinds of weather and possibly in uneven terrain. Volunteers are provided with proper tools and considered to be "on duty" between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm. Campground Hosts are friendly, engaging, and reliable, and are eager to learn about the area and share that information with others. Campground Hosts must be at least 18 years old and supply their own camper, trailer, etc. Many Campground Hosts are retired persons who enjoy spending their summers in the outdoors.

Descriptions of Campgrounds looking for Volunteer Hosts: 

-Upper Payette Lake Campground is located 19 miles from McCall, Idaho, on the shores of beautiful Upper Payette Lake. Visitors enjoy fishing, canoeing, and exploring local trails. Engelmann spruce and lodgepole pine forest the site, providing partial shade, and summer wildflowers are abundant. The no-wake lake offers great fishing, canoeing, and kayaking opportunities. The paved Shoreline Trail begins in the campground and several additional hiking and biking trails begin just across the road from the entrance. 

-Last Chance Campground is located 9 miles northwest of McCall, Idaho on Hwy 55 and Last Chance Road. This popular campground sits along Goose Creek, with many sites close to the crystal clear water. Goose Creek Falls is a hiking or biking destination that leaves from the campground and is a highlight for many people staying in the area.

-Burgdorf Campground is located approximately 30 miles north of McCall, Idaho off of Warren Wagon Road. There are three sites with tables and fire rings, drinking water and a toilet. Several trails leave from the Burgdorf Campground area, providing excellent recreation opportunities. The nearby Burgdorf Hot Springs is privately owned, but open to the public with developed hot pools- a perfect place to kick back and relax.
